After lengthy opening remarks and comments by elected Village officials, one via telephone we finally heard from a spokesman for the developer. Major discussions centered on another Land Swap idea where the developer would give the Village a portion of his existing holdings in exchange for the Village DPW side yard that is next to and may be part of the Le. High Valley Walking Trail. The developers swap portion would include the PINK Section House that has great interest to Village preservationists and the folks who have done such a great job with the Train Depot area. This would then give the Village a connecting corridor for the S. Long Park, the Depot area and the Walking trail. Contained in these discussions where questions and assumptions on moving the Section House to a better location in the Train Depot area, what will be done with the BLUE Zombie house that sits next to the DepotWalking Trail parking lot and what to do with the DPW yard stuff, including its salt barn, if the area is given away to the developer in this swap. A recent traffic study was referenced and may become available on the Village website. If not, a copy could be obtained at the Village front desk. It looked to be a thick stack of paperwork. Points where also made that California Drive may really not be wide enough to handle increased traffic going two ways with existing one side parked cars. Traffic did get a deep discussion. Residents where informed that when the project begins it will not be done in sections. All Town Houses and apartments will be built at one time. After this long open discussion period, a vote was taken. Three elected Village officials voted in favor of this swap and one opposed with one absent. All offered their personal comments on why they voted as they did. As I understand what I saw, the Village of Williamsville will go forward with the process which still will needs many approvals and what looks like lots of forms to be filed.
